Baldur’s Gate: The Original Saga (Includes Tales of the Sword Coast)

Baldur's Gate in my opinion was an instant classic. It was Bioware's first attempt to bring Advanced Dungeons and Dragons to the PC. They did an excellent job. I remember seeing this advertised in Computer Gaming World and losing my breath! This is one of those games where I will never forget the excitement of installing it and playing it immediately.

Taking place in the Forgotten Realms setting, Baldur's Gate is the beginning of an Epic tale of a young orphaned adventurer who slowly learns of his true heritage. This product uses the 2nd Edition AD&D Rules and does a very good job at it. It allows you to pick from any standard race and class and has a Level Cap around 7 or 8. You can control your main character and up to 5 other NPCs that can join you in your travels.

With the addition of Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion Pack, Baldur's Gate became even better! TotSC offered more areas to explore, more items, spells and a higher Level Cap around 9 or 10.

The story is well written and the graphics are great. The areas in which you adventure are all hand drawn and are great works of art. It should also be noted that there are about 55 area's to explore in this game! Another point of note is the game's Soundtrack. I remember aching to get into the wilderness areas just to listen to the background music. Its THAT good!

This game is a DnD fan's dream and I would also recommend it to folks who do not know much or nothing of DnD. Playing through this game is definitely a treat and well worth your time!
